Heat Wave in Norway

hei guys!

so its been outrageously hot here in oslo. the last week here has been a varified freak heat wave. fans are sold out absolutely everywhere in all but one town up north. i heard one store got a new shipment yesterday so i ran there and a guy three people ahead of me got the last one. I nearly started a rumble in the jungle at Clahs Olsen but decided even if i decked the guy and ran off with it I would likely be aprehended by the mall security and have to forfeit the gold anyway.

Today I scrubbed my appartment. Most people would have considered it already clean but now it sparkles up to Helen standards...and painted my nails red :)

The neighborhood is great, although the children wake me up at 8 in the morning playing in the backyard. Have to keep the windows open due to the INTENSE heat. There is a sweet cafe on the corner and a little fresh foods market accross the street. I am already friends with the iranian guy who owns it, Saoud. Speaking of which, I made a stew for dinner today. It should feed me for the next three days. Its got chicken, mushrooms, brocolli, onions, garlic, carrots, potatoes, top ramen noodles, and red peppers lol. I just threw it all in a big pot with water and broth. Super yummy and cheap and healthy!

 

Last night i went midnight swimming. Yup, thats what midnight looks like in oslo summertime. well, 11pm at least. Those are friends i met at school, wonderful ladies.

today

about ten days ago we occupied a shut down kebab shop next to where i live. We have cleaned and painted and gotten furniture and organized. We intend to have a space to hang out and share information (books, movies, music, art) so we are calling it the infoshop. There is also a bike repair shop and a silk screening shop (set up by me :-) and soon a bar. Today we had our first real, documented meeting.

i also went to a bbq todayin a sunny park :-)

Below is my room in the house for the first week. Its really Mirahs room because she has been going there with her father, the director of the school, since she was small.

Made it through easter

I was gonna post pictures of my easter here in oslo and some good ones of dusty but my iphoto is on the fritz so i can only post pics from my webcam right now. So i here is my new haircut. hopefully i can get the glitch worked out soon so i can finish putting up the pics from spain and italy too.

Hola!

Hey everyone!
i dissappeared for a while but im back in oslo now. I didnt have a phone or internet or money so sorry i didnt contact anyone. I lived at a house an hour from barcelona for a month with some other artists and then went to the city for a while and then went to rome. So many amazing things seen and done it will take me a while to post all the pics and stories but im starting now. Below is at Can Serrat, one of my favorite places on earth, the house i lived in. I may go back there and work next year.

im the one on the far left lol. we had some pretty happening kitchen parties. i like the kinda parties where i know and like everyone and thats how it is at can serrat. also there were some epic dance moves invented.

so i am gonna post everything out of order because all my pics are jumbled up. below is rome. the ridiculous thing about rome is that youll be walking around and run into random giant fountains and piazzas and cathedrals everywhere. and temples and ruins and stuff. all packed in downtown. its pretty hard to get bored there when its sunny and you have good walking shoes.

so yet to come is more can serrat, barcelona, the gaudi museum which by the way blew my mind, the caves at mont serrat which is a spiritual experience, the art i did there, and much more :-)

My New Home

So for those of you dont know, i recently moved into a new house. It was technically squated three years ago, but my section is a little newer so we are still building and fixing some things...like a shower and getting hot water to any faucet. I have a little space heater in my room and two comfy dunas so im cozy.

This is one of my views, I have two big windows. I set my "waffle station" up next to one of them :-) Im famous around these parts for spreading the love with frequent waffle and kakao making. (i also made delicious apple cinnamon muffins for the last house meeting)

This is the "view" in the bathroom :-) no sink in there so we use the freezing cold water in the kitchen. When its time to wash the few dishes we have I boil some water in a big pot. I use the same method to heat up water for wash clothe showers since we're still building a proper shower lol. There is a shower at school so I wont have dreads next time you see me....probably. 

Pics of the kitchen are coming but there is a guy sleeping in there now. Oh and the living room and rest of the house...

The guy on the left is Erik. I didn't even know him very well before but when i got back to norway and was homeless he invited me to stay at his apartment. He shares it with another guy I know from school and they set up a mattress for me in the living room and made dinner every night. Kjempe Koselig! They were so generous and I stayed there for a week.

Purple hair

This is begore the big snow storm hit. It was so cozy to have a latte in the park. Its still snowing outside as we speak. I died the tips of my hair and bangs. I recently moved into a new house which i will have to post some pics of. Hope all is well in lake town :)
